EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP TEAM
Janis Paulson — Chief Executive Officer
Before making higher education her career, Janis Paulson had an extensive background in accounting and finance, including positions with Ernst & Young and Fidelity National Financial. She has served as COO for IEC Corp, COO for Quickstart Intelligence, and CFO for American Career College. In 2008, she was named CFO Transformation Agent of the Year by the Orange County Business Journal. Janis has held the positions of Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer. She has experience with ACCSC, ABHES, ACICS, ACCET and WASC. Janis believes that with a focus on quality programs, faculty and staff a college can deliver for all stakeholders including students, communities, employers, investors and taxpayers. Janis earned her BS in Accounting from the University of Iowa.
Navneet Bhasin, MD — Chief Operations Officer
Dr. Navneet Bhasin is a visionary and results-driven leader with more than 13 years of experience in for-profit higher education. Since joining Unitek College, Navneet has successfully served as Program Director, Campus Director, Regional Campus Director, Senior Vice President Operations, and now COO. He exhibits outstanding skills in research, budgeting, analysis, business planning, and team building. He has a proven track record of improving campus performance and growing student populations while maintaining excellent student outcomes. Prior to coming to the US, Dr. Bhasin practiced medicine in India as a general internist. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Moscow Medical Academy in Russia.
David R. Higley — Chief Marketing Officer
David Higley is a seasoned senior executive with extensive experience in strategic marketing, advertising, partnership building, and business development. Prior to Unitek Learning, David served as chief marketing executive for several higher education companies, including Post University, International Education Corporation, and Corinthian Colleges. In all of his previous roles, he demonstrated a consistent ability to increase sales, market share and profitability. He began his career as Marketing Director for Icon Health and Fitness, the world’s largest manufacturer of home fitness equipment, where he dramatically increased sales for 8 consecutive years. David earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry from Utah State University.
George Harbison — Chief Financial Officer
In the higher education field, George Harbison has served as CFO for U.S. Education Corporation, International Education Corporation, Trident University International and the DeVry Healthcare Group, which consisted of several prominent medical, nursing and veterinary universities. In other fields, he has served as CFO Hilton Group, PLC, Ladbroke/USA and Real Mex Restaurants. George holds a BA from Kenyon College and an MBA from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. He has taken additional courses at the London Business School.
Abdel Yosef, Phd, RN, CNE — Chief Academic Officer, Unitek College Dean
Dr. Abdel Yosef has over a decade of proven performance as Vice President and Academic Dean for Unitek College. His extensive experience and expertise includes regional and national accreditation, Higher Education, Board of Registered Nursing Regulations, Vocational Nursing Regulations and CCNE accreditation. In other roles, he has served as President of California Career Institute, CFO for California School of Health Sciences, and faculty member at California State University. Abdel earned his BSN from Jordan University of Science and Technology, his Master of Science in Nursing from Georgetown University, and his PhD in Nursing Education from University of San Diego.
Kamran Mokhtari — Chief Information Officer
Kamran Mokhtari has over 30 years of diverse experience in information technology, leading numerous corporate technology teams, establishing technology strategy, and executing technology planning. Kamran started his career as a Programmer & VAX/VMS Systems Administrator at Solar Turbines. Subsequently, he joined Digital Equipment Corporation as a Software & Network Specialist before serving FAMCO as IT Director and Chief Information Officer. In 2001 Kamran founded Gamma Systems Inc., providing virtual CIO consulting services to the legal, medical and education industries. As CIO, Kamran oversees all aspects of information technology, information security, and telecommunication. He also empowers the growth of Unitek Learning by collaborating with the company’s various business units. Kamran earned his BS in Computer Science from San Diego State University. He is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
Don Corvin — Senior Vice President of Compliance
Don Corvin graduated from California State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. His previous experience includes Consultant with the Enterprise Risk Services division of Deloitte and Touche, Internal Audit Manager for Corinthian Colleges, and Compliance Executive for American Career College/West Coast University and International Education Corporation. To the Unitek team, Don brings extensive professional background including internal audit, compliance with state, federal and accreditation standards, development of policies and procedures, and implementation of compliant and efficient processes.
Ena Hull — Senior Vice President of Student Financial Services and Title IV Compliance
With over 25 years of experience in student finance, compliance and Title IV administration, Ena Hull is a nationally recognized leader in the higher education industry. Her prior roles have included: Regional Vice President for Citibank Student Loans, Director of Financial Aid for the California Community College System, and President for the California Association of Student Financial Aid Administrator’s Association (CASFAA). She has served as a consultant, trainer and presenter at many national and regional conferences including NASFAA, WASFAA, CASFAA and The College Board. Ena earned her BS in Business Administration from College of the Sequoias and studied Business Information Systems and Management at University of Phoenix.
Indrani Dutta — Vice President of Human Resources & Talent Acquisition
Indrani Dutta is an accomplished, results-driven professional with more than 17 years of international experience in human resources and staffing for various industries. Indrani has a Master’s in Human Resource Development and Management with an executive education in Human Resources from Stanford Graduate School of Business with major in Merger and Acquisition. Her prior work experience with Asia Pacific countries in strategic HR function helped her understand key business requirements as well as developing core competency in the area of Strategic HR initiative, change management, organization climate analysis and talent retention.
