Unitek combats attrition rates with innovative new system for students.

Newport Beach, California – Unitek Learning is thrilled to announce that they have been selected by the Online Learning Consortium (OLC) as the winner of the Award of Excellence in Data and Learning Analytics Design for their Data Infrastructure Project submission. This award serves as a way for the OLC to celebrate the impactful work of educators and share their contributions across the field.

“It is an honor for Unitek Learning to win the Award of Excellence in Data and Learning Analytics Design,” said Jamie Holcomb, Ed.D., Vice President of Academic Strategy and Faculty Success at Unitek Learning. “The work our organization has done, with regard to data infrastructure, has made an incredible impact on our students’ educational experience as well as their learning outcomes, our faculty, and our staff!”

On April 19th, Dr. Holcomb represented Unitek Learning by accepting the award in Nashville, Tennessee. The submission team members included Dr. Abdel Yosef, Chief Academic Officer; Louis Cabuhat, National Dean of Allied Health; Beth Bruner, Vice President of Online Architecture and Innovation; and David McMurtry, Data Architect and Consultant.

Through their work, custom-data dashboards can use both predictive analytics and automated processes. This combination has facilitated prompt interventions for at-risk learners while decreasing attrition rates. The innovations in data infrastructure and analytics have fostered greater efficiencies, seamless communication, and improved learning outcomes.

“At Unitek, we care greatly about our communities,” said Janis Paulson, Chief Executive Officer at Unitek Learning. “This award reflects the deep commitment of our team and organization to use data to support our students, faculty, and staff, while strengthening outcomes at all levels.”

Dr. Yosef added: “Data analytics enables educators to identify patterns and areas of improvement, which can inform strategic planning, resource allocation, and student support. Ultimately, data-driven decision making can help to improve educational outcomes and support student success.”
