Unitek Joins Forces with Masonic Homes of California to Expand Workforce Education

Unitek Learning to Help Transform Healthcare Workforce

Newport Beach, California – Unitek Learning is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Masonic Homes of California, a group that is devoted to helping others live well and achieve meaningful lives. The Masonic Homes of California is guided by the charitable mission and values of the Masons of California. This nonprofit, fraternal organization has more than 40,000 members. Both Unitek Learning and Masonic Homes seek to support communities throughout the Golden State.

“Our goal is to work with Masonic Homes of California on workforce development. We understand that students don’t just want to find a great job—they want that job to continue to evolve and grow with them,” said Janis Paulson, Chief Executive Officer at Unitek Learning. “With that in mind, we have educational pathways to help advance the workforce so that they can seize every opportunity they want today and in the future.”

Through this partnership with Unitek Learning, employees of Masonic Homes can advance their careers by enrolling in a specialized program offered by Unitek Training Healthcare. These individuals will have the opportunity to enjoy a Nursing Assistant Training Program (NATP) approved by the California Department of Public Health. The hybrid-online program features a combination of traditional instruction, virtual components, and hands-on exercises. Students will also benefit from clinical rotations and a NATP credential upon successful completion of the program.

“Personal care aides are expected to be the single largest occupation in California by 2026, and that growth will contribute to a statewide shortage of up to 3.2 million paid direct care workers in the coming years,” said Karilyn Van Oosten, Vice President of Strategic Business Development at Unitek Learning. “This workforce crisis threatens the quality and affordability of care for aging Californians. Our partnership with Masonic Homes of California will help expand access to quality healthcare education, which will then increase access to care.”

Gary Charland, Chief Executive Officer at Masonic Homes of California, added: “The Masonic Homes of California is eager to help reduce the workforce shortage that the healthcare space is facing. We believe this partnership will bring relief to many overwhelmed communities and hospitals for future generations.”

Unitek Learning is the parent company of several distinguished learning institutions: Unitek College, Unitek EMT, Unitek Training Healthcare, Eagle Gate College, Provo College, and Brookline College. Unitek programs teach the clinical practices and theory used in the field today. Equipped with a multitude of sought-after skills, Unitek graduates are prepared to excel in many of the fastest-growing careers in healthcare and nursing.
