Unitek 2022 Conference: Navigating the Paradigm Shifts of Higher Education and Healthcare

Inspirational health and nursing leaders collaborated to build a better future at Unitek’s virtual conference.

Newport Beach, California – November 15, 2022 – On September 30, 2022, Unitek hosted their seventh annual conference with Dr. Shanita Williams, author of Feedback Mentality: The key to unlocking and unleashing your full potential, as the morning keynote speaker. This event also featured the work of Dr. Bernadette Melnyk, Ph.D., APRN-CNP, EBP-C, FAANP, FNAP, FAAN, Dean of the College of Nursing at The Ohio State University, professor of pediatrics and psychiatry at OSU’s College of Medicine, and Executive Director of The Helene Fuld Health Trust National Institute for Evidence-based Practice in Nursing and Healthcare as the afternoon keynote speaker. This virtual event focused on the theme of “Resilience and Innovation: Navigating the Paradigm Shifts of Higher Education and Healthcare.” Guest speakers explored megatrends in teaching, learning, and healthcare delivery shaped by responses to the most expensive and widespread public health crises of our time.

“We were honored to host such forward-thinking and inspirational thought leaders like Shanita Williams and Bernadette Melnyk. Together, their ideas bridged the gap between the present and future of healthcare and education,” said Janis Paulson, Chief Executive Officer at Unitek Learning. “At Unitek, we will continue to cultivate new ideas to expand our educational offerings. For us to prepare future healthcare professionals, we must focus on academic transformation so that we can help set the course for the future and improve student learning experiences.” Throughout the conference, each speaker analyzed the paradigm shifts in higher education. Dr. Shanita Williams and Dr. Bernadette Melnyk led the discussion on necessary change. Innovation in academia involves creative mindsets and redesigning learning spaces. Alternatively, healthcare innovation often entails advances in patient care models and robotic-assisted surgery. Conference participants spoke with various experts in pedagogy, online learning, higher education leadership, and workforce development.

“Shanita and Bernadette’s mission is one that Unitek ultimately shares,” said Dr. Abdel Yosef, Provost and Chief Academic Officer at Unitek Learning. “Our goal at the conference was to stimulate innovation that increases the focus on futuristic approaches to teaching and learning. Unitek Learning will continue to incorporate new innovative approaches and technologies as we expand our education offerings for the nation.”
